Living well in retirement is just as much about your physical health, as your financial health… of course! So, being a financial planner with a background in healthcare, for this month’s email newsletter, I wanted to share this article with you…
“Did you know that saunas are associated with lower death risk? An article published in JAMA Internal Medicine noted that men in Finland who used a dry sauna two to three times a week over the long term for at least 11 minutes each time had a 22% lower chance of dying from a sudden heart attack than men who used a sauna only once a week.
But get this: Men who used saunas four to seven times a week had a 63% lower risk of dying from a cardiovascular event!
Possible reason: Sauna use increases the heart rate to a level similar to that when doing low-to-moderate exercise and helps to lower blood pressure.
So, go ahead and relax in the sauna! It turns out that it might be great exercise!”
If you decide to try it, Harvard Medical School has some useful additional information.
